The exhibition Sig-alert looked at the work of artists actively involved in the Los Angeles art scene. These artists take responsibility for energizing and promoting the LA art community by finding alternative/non-traditional approaches to exhibiting, not only their work, but the works of others. Along with traditional gallery showings, they have curated exhibitions, organized art spaces and exhibited in venues such as the Hollywood Department of Motor Vehicles and the Pavilions Super Market. Through their outstanding artwork, focused commitment and dedicated
entrepreneurial efforts, they have created a new shape for LA's always kinetic art scene. Instead of waiting in traffic, they find new routes around the road blocks of the art world.


Sig-alert was re-curated at California State University, Fullerton as Sig-alert 2. The exhibition included works by all of the original Sig-alert artists. The exhibition was presented at CSUF's
Grand Central Art Center in Santa Ana, CA from June 19, 1999 through August 14, 1999. Works for Sig-alert 2 were selected by Mike McGee and Susan Joyce.
