The End of the Day (Schwedterstrasse), 2003/2005
A short video shot in a transitional section of East Berlin follows the quotidian events of several characters: a man rests in a chair, a girl admires an old automobile, a bicyclist surveys a used-car lot. In this mixed-use and societally undefined location situated somewhere between the historical past and an uncertain future, a small group of characters are seen traveling through a physical and psychological "no man's land", found somewhere between work and leisure time...

About the artist:
Jeff Luckey currently lives and works in Berlin and New York. In 1997 he graduated from the University of Georgia, Athens, with a BFA in Photography. He received a certificate degree under Stephen Shore from Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, in 2002, and went on to receive an MFA from ICP-Bard College, New York, in 2005. Luckey’s work recently has been exhibited in solo exhibitions: The 74th Minute (A Portrait in 1/115th Time), Nabit Art Gallery, University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee; Design Flaw, ICP-Bard College MFA Gallery, Long Island City, New York. Recent select group exhibitions include: Outside/Inside, (curated by Nayland Blake), Gensler Gallery, New York; Summer in the City, Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris, France; Selections from the 60 Second Southern Video Festival, Ausstellungsraum Klingental, Basel, Switzerland; Photo NY 2006, (representing the International Center of Photography) Metropolitan Pavilion, New York; Recent Acquisitions, Asheville Art Museum, Asheville, North Carolina; Outbound, ICP Education Gallery, New York; Night of 1000 Drawings, Artists Space, New York; SOS-KUNSTSTÜCK 2004, Munich, Germany; House, Athens Institute for Contemporary Art, Athens, Georgia. In 2004 Luckey received an ICP-Bard College merit scholarship award.
