In the artist’s own words:
Casual Mechanisms
Questions of control, gender, nationality and globalism are at the centre of this piece, but my true motivation was the surprise and interest I felt when complete strangers started calling me every weekend, from the other side of the world.

About the artist:
Yaron Lapid currently lives and works in London. In 2003 he graduated from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem with a BFA and went on to receive an MFA from Goldsmiths College, London, in 2007. Lapid’s work recently has been exhibited at Loop 08, Barcelona, Spain; Supermarket 2008, Stockholm, Sweden; MI2, Athens, Greece; Candid Art Trust Projection Room, London; Airswap at MANIFESTA 7, Trentino, Italy; MIRFestival, Athens, Greece; Einfuhlung x 5, Kayma Gallery, Tel Aviv, Israel; Artik 5, Ramat-Gan Museum of Israeli Art; Artik 6, Tel Aviv University Gallery; Night Meter in the Jerusalem Documentary Festival; The Union, Meals & SUV’s Gallery, Hackney, London; Rag and Bone, The Three Colts Gallery, Hackney, London. In 2006 the artist received The Newby Trust grant.
