Art on the Edge of Fashion Performance

JEANETTE CARDON - The performance dealt with memories. Cardon used a dress of multiple layers, salt shakers and a reading lamp as integral components of a performance that took place on the East side of the museum. Seated in a chair, Cardon got up and left a trail of salt as she walked around the plaza. When the salt shaker was empty she dropped to her knees and followed the trail back to her chair, scrubbing the salt with her skirt as she went. When she had returned to the chair she sat and used a seam ripper to unravel the dirtied material. As she did so, she became subject to and told memories. The stories stopped when all the soiled threads were removed and placed in the emptied shaker. She reached for another salt shaker and repeated the process.
