Carnaval do Rio - Oba!

Join us!

When the ASU Art Museum decided to put on its first fundraising event, we didn’t want it to be a sit-down dinner. We wanted to throw a party!

As you drive up to the festivities you will hear a Latin-infused band and be greeted by your complimentary valet service. The fragrant aroma of the Rio Sabor Brazilian Steakhouse grill will ready your senses for an evening of extravagance. Upon entering the Museum, you will be welcomed by the sounds of DJ Maji and a festive cocktail will be placed in your hand.

Three of the galleries will be transformed into Silent Auction areas, each color-coded to match the individual theme. The Red Room, sponsored by The Ivy Council, will feature food from Asia de Cuba at the Mondrian Scottsdale and a Martini Lounge. The Blue Room, sponsored by Cranial Crush Consulting, will feature food from Pink Taco and specialty drinks from Don Julio Tequila. The Purple Room, sponsored by Latino Future magazine, will feature food from Rio Sabor Brazilian Steakhouse and Crown Royal.

The Live & SuperSilent Auctions will be located on the Top Gallery. This Gold Room, sponsored by Bell Lexus, will feature food from Deseo at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa with a Wine/Champagne Bar from Moet. Adjacent to this gallery are two terraces. One terrace will feature the Cigar Bar, sponsored by Latino Perspectives magazine. El Gordo Cigar Company will be creating hand-rolled cigars for all patrons. After-dinner drinks will be available from Don Julio, Johnnie Walker and Hennessy. The opposite end of the terrace will feature a Coffee Bar, sponsored by The Village Health Clubs & Spas. Illy will be featuring coffee, espresso and cappuccino. Add Bailey’s liquor, if you wish. In addition, Granny’s Chocolate Creations will have custom dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate bars available to delight your sweet tooth.

With over 250 pieces of art from local, regional, national and international artists, this event will amaze all of your senses! Our Live Auction begins at 9:30pm on the plaza of the ASU Art Museum. But there are real gems among the silent auction pieces, so arrive early and place your bids. After the Live Auction, we will continue the festivities with Latin music by Cascabel and dancing until the wee hours of the morning.

Celebrate while supporting the ASU Art Museum. Event proceeds will be reinvested in exhibitions, educational programs, and contemporary and Latin American collections.

We look forward to celebrating Carnaval do Rio-Oba 2007 with you Saturday, March 31, from 7 p.m. - when it’s over, and to supporting the mission of the ASU Art Museum.
