During the hot summer months the ASU Art Museum invites the community to cool with the annual Family Day. The event provides a space for local families to experience contemporary art in an exciting environment. Samples of programs available during the day include hands-on projects in conjunction with the exhibitions, educational booths, free refreshments, performances by local musicians, dancers, magicians, and puppet shows.

The Museum has encourages collaboration with other organizations in the Phoenix area. Programs at the annual Family Fun Day event have been presented and/or supported by the Phoenix Zoo, Phoenix Family Museum, ASU Theatre for Youth Program, Desert Botanical Garden, Arizona Museum for Youth, Phoenix Library, Discover India, Tempe Fire Department and Target. Family Day has been part of the the ASU Art Museum's programing since 1999 and has an annual attendance of over 1,000 individuals.
