PABLO HELGUERA: The School for Panamerican Unrest
In The School for Panamerican Unrest , Helguera invites people to engage the issues of globalization that impact us all. His traveling exhibition, scheduled for sites from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego, Chile, includes a portable schoolhouse, where the artist speaks with anyone who wishes to express concerns about issues relative to the hemisphere. Helguera will interact with ASU Art Museum visitors and classes June 20 - 21. He will return at a future date to present the documentation of this project in a full-scale exhibition. The project is sponsored by Creative Capital and the individual exhibiting institutions. The ASU Art Museum presentation is supported by Friends of the ASU Art Museum.

About the Artist
A native of Mexico City, Pablo Helguera is a New York-based artist whose work spans from photography to drawing, performance to installation. Helguera's work has been exhibited in museums and galleries worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the 8 th Havana Biennial; IFA Galerie, Bonn, Germany; Ex-Teresa Espacio Alternativo, Mexico City, and The Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum. He has worked as co-director of the International Forum of Contemporary Art and Criticism in Madrid 2003-2005 and from 1998 to 2005 was senior education programs manager of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York.
