TRANSFIX
Artistic Director of Vessel, Rachel Bowditch and multi-media artist Jacob Pinholster will collaborate on a multi-media performance installation Transfix. Created in 1996, Transfix has been performed in over thirty site-specific locations in New York City, Philadelphia, Sedona, and France. In an interactive silent atmospheric performance, fourteen performers will move slowly throughout the museum, both inside and outside, transforming the unique architecture of the museum into a poetic theatrical landscape. Performers break out of the traditional theatrical arena into a public space where the audience becomes part of the performance, coming and going as they please. Shrouded in white, the performers bind the permanence of urban architecture with the ephemerality of performance revealing the poetry and beauty of the mundane. Transfix is a collaborative, interactive intervention where the passerby, not expecting to see a performance stops in their tracks, transfixed.
