Location: North Area of Museum Store

In the "Must Have" and "Need Now" mindset of Our Age of Instant Gratification, Jeremy Briddell has created a series of ornaments that cannot be purchased. Installed prominently at the north side of the museum store sales area, hanging on an ornament tree used for retail display, Briddell's clearly odd decorations are, in the artist's own words, "not for sale because you really don't need them" and "nifty, but not very practical." The artist takes advantage of his impractical objects and their placement within the store to underscore questions about the necessity of objects for survival, as opposed to objects used as totems of mere social status and mindless desire.

Jeremy Briddell received a BFA in Ceramics from Kansas City Art Institute and went on to receive a MFA in Ceramic from Arizona State University. His work has been included in the exhibitions: The Candy Show, Chicago, IL; Spurgeon Experience II, Raid Projects, Santa Ana, CA; Group Show, Central Arizona College, Casa Grande, AZ; Benefit Auction, Desert Botanical Gardens, Phoenix, AZ; Benefit Auction, Sonoma Museum of Visual Art, Santa Rosa, CA; Variations on Tradition, Harry Wood Gallery, Tempe, AZ; Get on the Bus, Tempe Art in Transit, Tempe, AZ; Arizona Biennial, Tucson Museum of Art, Tucson, AZ; Fearless Flyer, Art One Gallery, Scottsdale, AZ; Eight Parts Dirt, One Part Water, Memorial Union Gallery, Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ; Print Show, Step Gallery, Tempe, AZ; Supermarket Extravaganza, Slop Art Supermarket, Kansas City, MO; Self Portraits, Step Gallery, Tempe, AZ; The Fun Show, Paper Boy Gallery, Chicago, IL; You Draw Like a Girl, Arizona State University Downtown Galleria, Phoenix, AZ; Day at the Zoo, Phoenix Zoo, Phoenix, AZ; Feats of Clay, Lincoln Arts, Lincoln, CA; and Great Lakes National, Lill Street Gallery, Chicago, IL.
