Social Studies 4: Paulo Nenflidio

Feb. 17 – March 27: Brazilian artist Paulo Nenflidio, in residence at ASU Art Museum
Exhibition: Feb. 17 – May 30

For the next Social Studies residency, the ASU Art Museum will host Paulo Nenflidio for six weeks. Born in São Bernardo do Campo in 1976, Nenflidio is a sound artist who also works in sculpture and drawing.

For his 2009 residency, Nenflidio will modify donated musical instruments in collaboration with community school groups, university faculty and students and museum visitors to design experimental music and sculpture. The residency will culminate with a performance utilizing the recreated instruments. Performance design, performers and location will be determined as part of the residency.

Social Studies 4: Paulo Nenflidio is supported by Future Arts Research at ASU and the National Endowment for the Arts. Campus partners include the ASU School of Art Intermedia program and Brazilian partners include A Gentil Carioca in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
