V.F.W. series

The great leader Winston Churchill said of war, "When we look back on all the perils through which we have passed and at the mighty foes we have laid low and all the dark and deadly designs we have frustrated, why should we fear for our future? We have come safely through the worst." War veterans at the Sunnyslope VFW Hall know this lesson well and live out this creed daily and with great style at their annual New Years Eve party. These men and women who have lived through the great sacrifice of war and conflict bond together in VFW halls across the country, sharing stories, experiences and fun. They are the survivors, those with a rich tradition, who pass on the VFW motto of "honoring the dead by helping the living." These World War II and the Korean War veterans, many now in the twilight of their lives, celebrate the New Year that so many of their comrades never saw, reminiscing of days gone by, always aware of the special bond they share.
