19th and 20th century Art of the Americas, grounded by the Oliver B. James collection, including paintings by Georgia O’Keeffe, Edward Hopper, Diego Rivera, Yasuo Kuniyoshi, Reginald Marsh, David Alfaro Siqueiros, Irene Rice Pereira and Charles Demuth, among others.
Oliver B. James, a Phoenix attorney, anonymously donated 16 American and Mexican paintings to Arizona State University in 1950. His goal was to provide students, faculty, school children and the general public in Arizona with the opportunity to view and be inspired by original works of art. Over the next five years, James thoughtfully acquired and donated close to 150 works of primarily American and Mexican art.
