Mexico City

February 4-8, 2015

We invite you to join the Director Gordon Knox and Curator Julio Cesar Morales on a unique and exceptional insiders’ tour of the art and architecture of vibrant Mexico City. Ciudad de México is a sprawling, frenetic, confounding, gigantic megalopolis built on the ruins of the ancient Aztec civilization. With over 21 million people, it is the largest metropolitan area in the western hemisphere and the largest Spanish-speaking city in the world. Mexico City is an amazing place to behold and to celebrate. Over the past couple of decades it has become known as a world-class destination for cutting edge art, inspired contemporary architecture, and a superb food scene that inventively celebrates the culinary traditions of México. On this exciting journey, you will explore the best that this extraordinary city has to offer. Your guide will be México native Julio Cesar Morales whose connections and friendships will enable us to visit the studios of notable artists. You will visit with artists such as Pedro Reyes, Tania Candiani, Miguel Ángel Rios, Máximo Gonzalez, Eduardo Terrazas, and Yoshua Okon, and will view outstanding contemporary art collections, like that of Teofilo Cohen.
