About the Windgate Contemporary Craft initiative


ASU Art Museum is the recipient of a two-year grant from the Windgate Charitable Foundation in support of the establishment of the Windgate Contemporary Craft initiative. This gift supports a series of contemporary craft exhibitions, visiting artists and scholars, new acquisitions, conservation, public and university programs and student awards in contemporary craft.

3 Five-Year Plans: Lawrence Gipe 1990-2005


The Arizona State University Art Museum will tour a midcareer retrospective that surveys 15 years of painting and multimedia by Lawrence Gipe. The theme unifying the exhibition is the exploration of the
relationship of the artist to political forces.

The first section addresses the visual language of industrialization and the Cult of Progress and technology in Europe, the Soviet Union and the United States between the World Wars.
