About the GDL>PHX initiative

GDL>PHX is a new initiative to bolster the relationship between the art scene in Guadalajara, Jalisco and Phoenix, Arizona. Both cities are sometimes ignored in favor of their larger metropolitan counterparts, Mexico City and Los Angeles, respectively — yet today, both Guadalajara and Phoenix boast thriving arts and culture scenes that are garnering international attention. Guadalajara has a centuries-old history in the arts, particularly crafts and architecture, and contemporary artists have found it a vibrant context to make new art.
